The First Annual Masalit Language Day, held in May 2026 by the Masara Community of San Diego, marked an important milestone in preserving the Masalit language and cultural heritage. Community members of all ages gathered to celebrate their native language through speeches, storytelling, music, and cultural presentations, reaffirming a shared commitment to ensuring that future generations continue to speak, understand, and take pride in the Masalit language and identity.

A Message to the Community
The Masara Community Portal was created to serve as a trusted home for our community within The Horn Dispatch.
Here you will find news that matters to your community, educational resources, interviews with community members, cultural history, and practical information to help families build successful lives in America while preserving the traditions, language, and stories that make your community unique.
Every article, interview, and resource published here is created with the community—not simply about the community.
What You'll Find Here
Every resource, story, interview, and project within the Masara Portal is guided by four pillars that work together to serve your community.
Rather than focusing on a single issue, The Horn Dispatch brings together trusted journalism, civic education, cultural preservation, and proactive integration to help preserve your community's heritage, strengthen civic understanding, and create opportunities for future generations.
Together, these four pillars provide a comprehensive approach to informing, preserving, and empowering the Masara community.
Community news, important events, interviews, and stories that affect the Masara community.
(1) Journalism

(4) Proactive Integration

Community Conversations
Every major project begins with a conversation.
The Horn Dispatch sits down with respected members of the Masara community for thoughtful, long-form interviews conducted by Attorney Yasin G. Amba, with trusted community translators helping ensure that ideas are expressed naturally in the speaker's preferred language.
These conversations become the foundation for articles, educational resources, videos, historical archives, and future community projects.
