THE HORN DISPATCH

Know Where You Come From, Understand Where You Are, and Decide Where You’re Going

Our stories. Our future.

The Horn Dispatch is a California nonprofit organization serving East African and Horn of Africa diaspora communities through independent community journalism, accessible civic education, cultural preservation, and proactive integration.

Rooted in the belief that our communities are stronger together, we connect people through shared knowledge, stories, and experiences—empowering them to preserve their heritage, understand the world around them, and participate fully in American life.

The Horn Dispatch is currently seeking federal tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Four Pillars

One Purpose

Four complementary pillars helping immigrant communities understand the world around them, preserve what matters from their past, and shape their lives in America with confidence and purpose.

(1) Community Journalism

Led in part by attorney Yasin G. Amba, our Community Journalism initiative provides accessible, fact-based reporting and analysis to help immigrant communities understand current events, government policies, and developments affecting their lives.

Explore Proactive Integration

We work with our communities to document, celebrate, and pass forward our histories, languages, and traditions, helping future generations understand where they come from and remain connected to their heritage.

Pillar 1: Community Journalism (2026)

Pillar 1: Community Journalism

→ THD News Analysis

Through our first pillar, Community Journalism, we launched The Horn Dispatch News Analysis, an initiative in which Attorney Yasin G. Amba and his team research and publish accessible, fact-based articles explaining current events, government policies, and important developments affecting our communities.

For selected news analysis articles, Attorney Amba leads recorded presentations in which he reviews the articles and explains their key facts and findings, while a trusted community translator provides real-time interpretation in the community's language. These recordings are then made available through the respective community portals.

The Horn Dispatch was founded by immigrants and first-generation Americans who remain deeply connected to the communities we come from.

We work alongside community members, volunteers, professionals, and partner organizations to share knowledge, preserve our heritage, and create opportunities for the generations ahead.

Whether you want to contribute your time, share your experience, partner with us, or support our work, there's a place for you in what we're building.
